Yoga pants begin a large controversy
The prohibition of yoga pants has caused a lot of controversy recently at MHS. Female students across campus have been affected negatively by this unusual ban.
Many students disagree with the ban and don’t understand what is wrong with wearing yoga pants. Junior MaKenna Curry said, “It is stupid because when we wear them we are covering our business and not showing any more skin other than our feet. We cannot help if others cannot control their eyes.”
Yoga pants are comfortable and easy to throw on in the morning. They are causal, but not as causal as sweats. They also don’t reveal anything, just like sweats. Junior Taylor Mobley said, “I don’t understand what the difference is between wearing jeans and yoga pants. Wearing jeans shows just as much skin as yoga pants do.”
Junior Maddie O’Rourke agrees and said, “Spending eight hours a day in school can really be a pain, but wearing yoga pants can make the day a whole lot better. Girls deserve to be comfy, especially when nothing inappropriate is showing.”
Getting ready in the morning can be annoying, and everybody has her off days. Students deserve the option to wear what they feel like as long as it is appropriate.

I agree that yoga pants should be allowed at school. Sometimes, girls need a day to be comfy. They aren’t any more revealing than jeans. I do not believe they are inappropriate, and they are only worn for comfort. They are also really easy to put on in a rushed morning or when you are tired. They just make the day better. I believe they shouldn’t be against dress code.

I completely agree with the writer of this article. Many skinny jeans and yoga pants are almost the same, they even make pants called “jeggings” that are yoga pants made of jean material. Those are allowed, why not yoga pants? They both cover everything, only difference is that jeggings have a seam on the side, which should be no deciding factor in what is dress code and what’s not.

I totally agree with you on this topic. Many teachers would not on the other hand, but I don’t understand why not. Yogo pants are very comfortable, and when you are in a rush in the morning and want to be somewhat casual then yoga pants are the way to go. Probably 95% of girls wear yoga pants to be comfy not to show off anything. Sometimes teachers or inistrators get the wrong idea, and won’t ever let us explain! You’re right jeans are just as bad as yoga pants, but jeans are uncomfortable. I also agree with “We cannot help if others cannot control their eyes,” because that’s right. It’s not our problem, they just need to stop looking and just think of it as jeans. There should not be any controversy at McIntosh Highschool with yoga pants.

I also agree with the writer of the article. Some days I have a test or two that I am really stressed out about, and I don’t feel like looking my best. That is why I put on yoga pants because they allow me and other girls to be comfortable, modest, and stylish without the restriction of movement skinny jeans give us. Yoga pants are made for women and girls to be comfortable no matter what they are doing. At the end of a long day or week all a girl needs is some comfort, so they should be allowed in school.

I agree with this article. As long as your shirt covers the front and back there is nothing inappropriate about them. They are great for days when you’re running late or just want to be comfortable. We are allowed to wear skirts and shorts that show more skin than yoga pants do. Yoga pants are the go-to comfy look for girls and we should be allowed to wear them. Hannah Pope

I agree with this article because guys are aloud to wear almost anything to school. Girls have limited clothes options when dressing for school especially in winter and fall. Yoga pants are comfortable but also not as baggy as regular sweatpants so you wont appear to be having a “lazy day”. Yoga pants are also a big help when you just want to dress comfortable! I think yoga pants should be aloud in school.

I agree with the writer of this article. Yoga pants are not any more revealing than skinny jeans. They are also very comfortable and many girls enjoy wearing them. They are in no way inappropriate, and I do not understand why they are considered against the dress code. Yoga pants are made for comfort, and sometimes a day of comfort is needed. They are the girls’ version of sweatpants, and I agree that they should be allowed to be worn to school.

I agree to this statement. When I have a rough morning I want to throw on something comfy but not sloppy looking. Yoga pants are a good medium! They show as much skin as pants. So basically you are saying we can’t wear certain pants? What? I bought yoga pants so that I could look cute and be comfy at 7 hours of school. Then I found out that they are banned. People will look at you in regular pants as much as yoga pants. So what is the point of banning something that is comfy? Yoga pants make me enjoy my day more. I learn better when I am comfy in yoga pants than I do in tight pants. The only difference is color. I don’t see the problem with them.
