Academic Team takes a lead

On Thursday, November 14, McIntosh’s junior varsity Academic Team made yet another win, passing the varsity team and wining the contest for the day.

The Academic team consists of four or five members, and these are involved in a contest like a quiz ball; the candidates buzz a buzzer and give an answer to a question that could be about anything. This concept means they need to know a lot of information over a large range of topics.

The points are scored on a running base, meaning that after every game points are added to the team’s last score. The winner is the team with the highest points over a certain period of time.

Varsity, however, also scored a good amount of points, and still have a chance to take home the winning title.

Sophomore Mikela Gassert said, “The varsity team entered the competition with frowns but when they walked out there was so much excitement and happiness, we knew they did well.”
