With the end of the school year approaching, students in Mr. Ward Abel’s debate class are starting the annual one-on-one brackets. This tournament will serve as the students’ final debates. The current public forum topics will be different for each round and will continue to get more difficult as more students are eliminated from the bracket. Students who lose a round will still produce work but will not participate in the following debates. Traditionally, the winners of the tournament receive a book of poetry from Mr. Abel.

Junior Neha Somani said, “Brackets are fun. You have to do everything on your own, and it is so exciting to see who wins and reaches the next round. The only thing I dislike about brackets is that there is no summary segment, but debating is always fun for me.”
