Students discuss the topic of love in British literature class.

Seniors in Mr. Abel’s British Literature class were given a hard topic to discuss on Wednesday, March 25: What is love?

Mr. Abel applied his lesson to students’ general interests and started an intense discussion that focused on the main problem of our generation: How do you know when you are in love?

Mr. Abel asked students to define what love means to one at different ages: age 5, 16, 35, and 65.

Senior Kianna Picard said, “I enjoyed talking about a topic a lot of students think about on a daily basis and never talk about it openly. It helped me realize that a lot of other students are experiencing the same emotions as me. I like how teachers are changing their teacher methods in order to connect to the age group.”

Different definitions arose according to different perspectives. However, almost everyone agreed that around age 16, people are reckless and believe that they have found the one.

Mr. Abel brought up an important observation: He met his wife when he was 17.

Every person has a different perspective on love. Some people believe that young people don’t understand what love really means.
