Compassion Pit

Everyone throughout high school at one point has been through difficult struggles and felt completely alone in life. This website, http://www.compassionpit.com, helps to prevent that awful feeling of loneliness and helps students through personal issues. From peer pressure, bullying, depression, relationship problems, or just rough days, people are encouraged to “vent” anonymously and talk about those issues in productive and proactive ways. Compassion Pit’s home page starts off with two choices: Vent or Listen to a “venter.” Then, within a few seconds, the page connects the venter or listener with another anonymous person. It is never a computer. The website promises it is always “honest human-to-human communication.”

Another perk of this website is that it makes sure to connect the venter with a listener who is reasonably far enough away. This ensures anonymity and prevents connection with someone from real life. If the conversation does  not meet expectations, one can disconnect and exit any time. A “report abuse” button is also available to ban any venters or listeners from participating in any harmful ways.

Compassion Pit is a site for everyone, not just students with troublesome problems. People who are just bored are also welcome to the site to help listen to a venter’s thoughts. Simply having someone listen to one’s thoughts and respond with advice can help tremendously. It might even save lives and prevent self-harm.

Compassion Pit is an extremely helpful and beneficial website for everyone that visits it. If you are having any trouble, someone is always willing to help listen on http://www.compassionpit.com. No one is ever alone.
