Pretty Little Liars airs creepy Halloween episode

Spencer Hastings, one of the Pretty Little Liars, gets abducted by a creepy masked figure.

With Toby being one of the Liars’closest friends, fans of the show were left in complete shock. The Halloween episode followed the same formula as most of the other PLL episodes: suspenseful and scary twists and turns, more secrets, and a major cliffhanger at the end. But, unfortunately, the episode gives away essentially nothing.

This time, the four Liars spend their Halloween night on a fast-moving, dangerous party venue, entitled The Ghost Train. They are accompanied by fellow classmates: Noel Kahn, Jenna Marshall, Lucas Gottesman, and many more. Two of the Liars, Spencer Hastings and Emily Fields were also escorted by their significant others, Toby Cavanaugh and Paige McCullers. Later in the episode, Hanna Marin’s boyfriend, Caleb Rivers, also makes an appearance on the deadly train. Singer Adam Lambert performed his hit song “Cuckoo” on the show as well.

The Liars are first giddy and excited about the spooky attraction, but soon enough, things get deadly. Spencer is the first Liar to experience trauma. She is grabbed from behind by a masked man, and is taken to an outside train car. The masked man is then revealed, after an agonizing commercial break, as Garrett Reynolds. He tells Spencer that he is going to flee Rosewood, but not before clearing his name. He reveals he saw Alison the day she died, but he was not the last: he also spotted Aria’s dad, Brian Montgomery, with Alison. This revelation complicates Ali’s death even more.

Meanwhile, Aria is drugged and kidnapped by no one other than A. She finds herself trapped inside a large crate with a friendly, but cold guest. Aria, who has not received as much attention from A as the other girls, is finally put in a life-threatening situation. She is nearly pushed off of The Ghost Train, by two unknown helpers of A: one male and one female. As she teeters on the edge of the train, the Liars come to the rescue just in time to save Aria from her imminent death.

At the same time, creepiness oozes into the Marin home. Ashley Marin and her new preacher beau are handing out candy for trick-or-treaters, when suddenly a little blonde girl shows up inside her home. This mysterious visitor tells Ashley that her mother has abandoned her. Ashley reassures the pale girl, and sympathetically touches her. She instantly notices her hands are freezing cold. As Mrs. Marin runs to grab her boyfriend, the little girl disappears. Ashley rationalizes that tonight, she has seen a ghost. Even though this scene may be inferred as random and unimportant, some dedicated PLL fans have put two and two together. In the beginning of last year’s annual Halloween episode, Alison was telling a story about a pair of young twin girls. Both of them blonde. During Halloween, one killed the other. In this year’s episode, the ghost was played by the same young actress as the dead twin.

Lots of other suspenseful action takes place in this creepy “Pretty Little Liars” episode, along with the revelation of the murder of one of the cast’s main characters. This character was the cold guest who was also in the same crate as Aria. “Pretty Little Liars” starts back up regularly on Tuesday, January 8.
