Basketball begins season against South Gwinnett

Both varsity basketball teams had their unofficial start to the season on Thursday Nov. 10 when they hosted the Northgate Vikings. The Varsity Girls won 74-12, and the Varsity boys won 61-41.

The teams played their first official game of the season against the South Gwinnett Comets on Saturday, Nov 12. South Gwinnett is an out of region opponent. The boys lost 59-55.

According to Maxpreps.com, junior Garrett LeClaire was the leading scorer with 14 points. Garrett said, “We played hard and gave a lot of effort, but we fell short because we gave up too many open shots.”
The Varsity Girls won their game 49-39. Senior Savannah Soles said, “We played our hearts out and executed the game plan that our coaches had for us. It was a great way to start the season off.”
