Freshmen Megan Uszynski placed second in state championship.

The XC team competed with their top 14 athletes at the Carrollton course for the State Cross Country Championship on November 5. They finished placing third in the state.

Freshmen Megan Uszynski said, “It was probably one of the hardest races mentally because I was way behind at some points, and there were people ahead of me who I had beaten all season. I almost gave up, but I hung in there and charged up the last hill before the finish line to finish strong.”

Senior Jackson Routon said, “It was a great experience. Running with some of the best runners in the state was crazy. I am so glad to run with my teammates and finish off this year on a good note. Being a senior it was my last cross country race, so it was bittersweet. I’m happy it’s over, but I’ll miss the team and the great memories I’ve made.”
