Cross country team competes at Carrollton Orthopedic Invitational

The McIntosh cross country team traveled to Carrollton, Ga., to race against some of the top teams in the state on Saturday, Sept. 10. The varsity boys team placed fifteenth, while the girls team placed thirteenth. On the boys team, the top three runners were junior Vladimir Zander Velloso, finishing tenth overall with a 5k time of 17:16, sophomore Zach Jaeger, placing thirty-ninth overall with a time of 18:06, and sophomore Rease Henry, placing seventy-sixth with an 18:51.

The top runners on the girls team were freshman Megan Uszynski, finishing tenth overall with a time of 20:25, freshman Zoe Smith, placing twenty-third with a 21:24, and junior Brianna Sattinger, placing twenty-seventh with a 21:40. After the meet, Head Coach Jason Newton said, “It’s the beginning of the season, and both girls’ and boys’ teams are doing great. There has been lots of progression over the summer and these first few weeks. When the state championship comes around, I know we’ll be ready.”
