The Chiefs opened their season with a victory against the Decatur Bulldogs on Friday, Aug. 19. When asked about preparation before the game Senior Daniel Blair said, “Coach Belknap has done a great job preparing us and coming up with game plans. We’ve worked hard in preseason to get in shape and get better.”

The teams had to wait an extra 30 minutes for kickoff due to lightning in the area. Decatur started strong scoring their only touchdown of the game in the first quarter with a long pass. The Chiefs answered back in the second quarter to tie the game up with a touchdown pass from senior Zach Sanders. With 2:31 left on the clock in the second quarter, the Decatur punter stepped out of the back of the end zone resulting in a safety. Thirty seconds later the Chiefs ran it in for another touchdown. At halftime McIntosh was leading 16-7. During the third quarter no one scored. In the fourth quarter the Chiefs racked up two more running touchdowns. The final score was 30-7, with McIntosh taking the first game of the season over Decatur.
