Mr. Ward Abel’s debate class began their semester debate tournament in April.  The tournament will run throughout the rest of the year and will include 23 different debates ranging from topics on the environment, the economy, human rights, and the United States political system.

Every student will participate in the process and learn about a pertinent current event, critique the debaters, and participate in at least one debate.  On top of that, winners in Mr. Abel’s class are treated to books of poetry specially written by him if they make it to the semifinal round.

Freshman Owen Henahan said, “I’m really excited about this semester’s debate tournament and hope to go all the way.”
